Fewer Smokers due to Smoking Ban |

 It seems as if many smokers of cigarettes around the United Kingdom have quit smoking as a direct consequence of the new legislations for smoking. The UK environment and attitude against smoking has completely changed, where smoking is thought upon in a negative way. Imperial Tobacco who provides several top selling British made brands have also reported a dip in sales.
You would have thought that the legislations brought on cigarette smoking would anger many smokers, some smokers are actually turning away from smoking altogether. Maybe many smokers are just not finding the time or place to smoke with there being bans in workplaces, bars, restaurants, local buildings, etc. It could be that smokers are smoking fewer cigarettes because of these conditions due to the public smoking bans. You can imagine the frustration this is causing many addicted smokers who would normally go through their day smoking where and when they wish to.
So how to deal with these problems that we can possible face over here in the US where such bans of cigarettes are started to come into place around many states. In the UK a portable ashtray has been produced in turn to try and keep smokers from throwing cigarettes on the ground, and it proves to be quite a popular little device. But you can't imagine every single cigarette smoker buying these portable ashtrays just to keep Britain tidy. Anyway, the littering of cigarettes should be re-addressed if it still causes to be a problem. The big question is although, will cigarette sales continue to decrease, and the answer is simply no. The immediate affects of the smoking ban will make their impact, but gradually you will see smoking trends continue as before.

Russia is the third largest tobacco producer in the world, number one being China, and second being the United States. This might not come as a surprise to most smokers because the demand for Russian cigarettes had increased quite radically in the last decade or so. Russia is top in one department although, this is for having the highest percentage of underage smokers in the world!
The tobacco sales in Russia show how much of an increase cigarettes are actually selling. In 1996 Russia produced 206bn cigarettes, 10 years later in 2006 the production of cigarettes increased to roughly 415bn cigarettes for the year. With this vast increase in tobacco production in Russia its lead to a few concerns to at the least for the health for many of the Russian people. It was stated by the Head of Health and Safety Committee that approximately 700 daily due to smoking of cigarettes. The death rate from 1996 until 2006 almost doubled!! From 250,000 of the Russian population a year has rose to over 400,000. These figures are relatively scary I would say.
The reason behind Russia for having such a higher percentage of deaths by cigarettes than anybody else is thought to be down to Russian cigarette having higher nicotine and tar levels in their cigarettes. This is only a suggestion though to why there are so many deaths in Russia. You do sympathize for so many deaths, but Russia are yet the only major country who haven’t signed the Anti-Smoking Legislation that was fashioned by the World-Health-Organization to aid countries with limiting tobacco manufacturers and controlling cigarette output. With Russia not signing the legislation it allows cigarette manufacturers to produce limitlessly and with taxes being so low cigarette production and sells are thriving.
Cigarette prices in Russia are also extremely cheap with these low taxes wherever you go to purchase them, being in a store, market, and petrol station etc. This is another reason to why Russian cigarettes are growing in popularity online too, Russian cigarettes are cheap enough as it is online and if you don’t have to pay duties or taxes it becomes like a wholesale for online buyers. It also is the main reason to why there are so many teenage smokers in Russia, cigarettes being easily affordable.

Nine people Arrested for Cigarette Smuggling |
|
Nine cigarette smuggling suspects were arrested last night for the attempt to smuggle over 500,000 cigarettes into the U.S a year ago. The cigarettes that were seized were found unlabelled in carrier bags and thought to be ready for distribution to the black market.
It is estimated that 50 cases of these illegally imported (smuggled) cigarettes were sold on a weekly basis on the black market where one case holds 10,000 cigarettes. The seizure was carried out by the RCMP; there were roughly 70 officers involved in a numerous amount of searches into many facilities, homes, and storage depots. The investigation also saw the seizure of 5 vehicles, and the discovery of $5,000 cash.
Cigarette smuggling is a major issue to police officials all over the U.S.A; it has become an increasingly disturbing matter and doesn’t help the outlook of the cigarette industry on top of all the problems the industry already faces. Another significant problem for smokers all over the U.S. is the question mark now of if the cigarettes that we are smoking legitimate?
This seizure demonstrates that yes the authorities are doing what they can to prevent the smuggling of cigarettes, but are the cigarettes we are smoking now and before contraband? How can you tell when cigarettes are legitimately made by the actual manufacturers? The cigarettes that were seized were found with no labels, so obviously there must be criminal organizations within the U.S labeling and marking illegal cigarettes.
It pulls a massive question mark to what we smokers are actually smoking, if there were 500,000 cigarettes suspected to be sold on the black market from this organization alone. There has surely got to be other criminal organizations involved within the U.S in the contraband of cigarettes. Maybe purchasing cigarettes online isn’t such a bad thing after all; at least you know with many online suppliers that they are getting supplied directly from the manufacturers of cigarettes.

Taxes must be paid on cigarettes where they are sold inside of the U.S.A no matter if they bought online or not. There are still a large number of companies online that sell cigarettes from abroad; these companies avoid these taxes because cigarettes are kept in bonded warehouses. When the actual cigarettes are imported from abroad and kept in bonded warehouses it means that any taxes that are usually due are avoided.

The one thing that puzzles most smokers is why it is made to seem so terrible to order cigarettes online. So many other products are available on the internet, like alcohol, and many other drugs, yet the big fuss seems to be focusing on the sale of cigarettes on the internet.
